Splendor X™ Laser Hair Removal: First 48-Hour Aftercare (and why it protects your results)
By Envy Skin Clinic | July 16, 2026
Serving Bloomington, Richfield, Minneapolis, Edina, Eagan, and Burnsville

We hear it all the time: laser hair removal is “worth the price” because confidence shoots up fast. Now, here’s the rule that protects that result in the first 48 hours after Splendor X™: keep treated skin cool, clean, and out of the sun. That means no hot showers, no sweaty workouts, no pools or saunas, and no scrubs or acids on the area. In Bloomington, with our four seasons and strong summer sun, those basics matter even more than you’d think.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: heat, sweat, and friction are the big three
Quick reset: Think “no heat, no sweat, no picking.” If you can keep inflammation down, your skin usually calms faster and your sessions stay on track.
Right after your Splendor X™ session, mild redness and a warm, sun-kissed feel can happen. We generally recommend you baby the area like you would after a little too much sun.
- Cool it down: Use a cool compress for short bursts if you feel heat. Skip ice directly on skin.
- Clean, gentle wash only: Stick to a fragrance-free, gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry. Don’t rub.
- Avoid heat and sweat: No hot showers, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours. Sweat plus friction is a common reason people get extra irritation.
- No pools: Hold off on chlorinated pools and lakes for 24 to 48 hours. This comes up a lot in Bloomington summers when outdoor time ramps up.
- Hands off: Don’t pick at bumps or “peppery” follicles. Let the skin settle.
If you’re in South Bloomington near the Mall of America and you’re shopping or traveling, plan your session before a lower-activity day so you’re not rushed into heat, tight clothing, or long sun exposure right away.
Days 3 to 7: the “I feel fine” week where people accidentally mess it up
A lot of our long-timers tell us the best part is seeing results over time and feeling their confidence come back. The first week is where you protect that momentum. Skin often looks normal fast, but it’s still settling underneath.
Two-week rule we repeat constantly: Wear SPF 30+ on treated areas any time they’re exposed, and avoid intentional tanning. It’s one of the easiest ways to prevent pigment issues.
- Sun protection stays non-negotiable: Cover up when you can. Reapply sunscreen if you’re outdoors. Bloomington sun plus outdoor patios, pool days, or long drives adds up.
- Skip exfoliation on the treated area: No scrubs, loofahs, dry brushing, or strong actives for several days. If you’re not sure about a product, ask us before you use it.
- Don’t wax, pluck, or use chemical depilatories: Between sessions, leave the follicle alone so the laser can do its job. Shaving is the preferred option if you need it.
- Avoid tight friction: If the area is bikini line, underarms, or anywhere clothing rubs, choose looser fabrics for a few days.
And yes, our South Loop area is busy. If you’re working retail or hospitality around Mall of America, aim for an appointment timing that gives you a calm night afterward. Your skin will thank you.
The products we actually want you using right now (simple wins)
Aftercare does not need a complicated shelf. Most irritation we see comes from people going back to “normal skincare” too fast or trying a new product the same week.
Cleanser and moisturizer
Go fragrance-free and gentle. If the area feels dry or tight, a basic moisturizer is usually enough. Keep it boring for a few days.
Soothing gel (only what we recommend to you)
If we sent you home with a soothing product or gave you a specific recommendation, use that. It’s there to calm the skin, not to “speed up shedding.”
SPF 30+ for exposed areas
This is your best friend after laser. If you’re treating an area that sees sun, keep SPF in the mix for at least two weeks after each session.
A quick note on the keyword confusion we see online: facial masks and “strong active” products don’t belong on freshly lasered skin. If you’re doing any facial services during your laser series, we’ll help you space things so your skin stays calm.
When to call us: trust your gut, and we’ll talk it through
We’ve been doing this work for a long time, and one thing we’re proud of is how seriously we take safety. A long-time patient even told us our team “caught it before the start of my treatment” when a medication could have caused a bad reaction. That’s the energy we bring to aftercare too.
“Wow! The importance of choosing a skin clinic that holds patient safety in the highest regard!!”

- Blistering or broken skin
- Redness that’s spreading or getting worse after the first day
- Severe pain that doesn’t settle
- Any reaction that makes you nervous
