triLift Non-Surgical Facelift (Laser Face Lift) Aftercare: Do's and Don'ts for the First 2 Weeks
By Envy Skin Clinic | September 18, 2026
Quick rule to protect your result: For the first 48 hours, keep pressure, heat, and heavy exertion off your face. That means no facial rubbing, no aggressive workouts, and sleeping slightly elevated so swelling settles faster.
I hear it all the time in our Bloomington clinic, especially from people juggling shift work or travel: you want the lift and firmness of triLift, but you also want a simple plan you can follow without guessing. One of our patients put it perfectly after doing triLift here: “11/10 experience”, and that kind of outcome starts with smart aftercare. triLift is non-surgical and designed for comfort, but your first two weeks still matter. Below is the exact do and don’t list I give clients in South Bloomington, including those coming in before the Mall of America or heading out for an MSP flight.
First 24 to 48 hours: protect the lift and calm the swelling
The first two days are about keeping things quiet. triLift works by addressing multiple drivers of facial aging, and I want your skin to settle without extra inflammation getting in the way.
Do
- Sleep with your head elevated for about 48 hours. A couple pillows or a wedge helps.
- Use cool compresses if you’re puffy. Keep them gentle and brief. Don’t press hard.
- Keep cleansing simple. Think lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, then pat dry.
- If I gave you specific instructions for your skin, follow those first.
Don’t
- Don’t touch, rub, or massage your face, even if it feels “a little tight.”
- Don’t do heavy exercise, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs.
- Don’t drink alcohol the first day if you’re noticing swelling.
- Don’t plan anything that forces a mask, helmet strap, or tight facial pressure right away.
Bloomington tip: Our weather swings fast. If it’s windy and cold, cover up on your way out, but keep fabric off the treated areas as much as you can. Cold wind plus rubbing can irritate skin that’s trying to settle.
If you’re someone who likes to “power through, ” this is the window to slow down. The people who are happiest with their result usually keep the first 48 hours simple.
Days 3 to 7: the “don’t sabotage it” week (sweat, sun, and friction)
Most people feel pretty normal during this stretch, which is exactly why it’s easy to slip back into habits that add heat and inflammation. triLift is designed to give face-lift-like results without surgery, and I want you to keep that tightening and firmness moving in the right direction.
The big avoid list for week 1
- Workouts that spike your heart rate: I generally recommend waiting 7 to 14 days before heavy exercise or heavy lifting. Light walking is usually fine if you’re not flushing.
- Heat exposure: Skip saunas, steam, and long hot showers. Heat can drag out redness and swelling.
- Facial pressure: Avoid gua sha, facial rollers, facial massage, and “tight” sleeping positions where your cheek is smashed into the pillow.
- Sun and wind: Bloomington’s seasons are real. Even in winter, UV exposure adds up. Protect your skin every day.
And if you’re pairing triLift with other skin goals, tell me. A lot of our regulars also do services like intense pulsed light or other light and laser options over time, and timing matters. I’d rather map it out with you than guess and accidentally stack irritation.
Weeks 1 to 2: when you can ease back into the gym, travel, and real life
By the second week, most people want to get back to normal. That’s fine, but I still like a controlled ramp-up.
Exercise timeline (simple version)
I generally recommend:
- Days 1 to 2: no workouts beyond an easy walk.
- Days 3 to 7: keep it light. If you flush or swell, you did too much.
- Days 7 to 14: start easing into strength and higher intensity, but avoid heavy lifting if you’re still tender or puffy.
Heat, facials, and “extra” services
Hold off on saunas, steam, and facial massage for 3 to 6 weeks unless I clear it for you. If you’re excited to stack services, I get it. I just want your skin calm first so you don’t lose momentum.
South Bloomington travel note
If you can, plan flights around the first 48 hours. If you have to fly, keep your skin cool, hydrated, and hands off. Airport schedules are real, and I see a lot of hospitality and airport workers. The good news is the aftercare window is short and predictable if you protect those first days.
If you want more background on how triLift works and what it targets, I broke that down in triLift Non-Surgical Facelift benefits and the triLift longevity timeline.
Products and habits that keep triLift results looking crisp
You don’t need a complicated routine right after a laser face lift style treatment like triLift. You need consistency.
My simple rule: gentle cleanse, moisturize, and SPF every morning. Then let your skin do its thing.
Keep it gentle for 2 weeks
- Use a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry.
- Use a basic moisturizer that doesn’t sting.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF daily. In Bloomington, sun reflects off snow and still hits your skin.
- Hold off on aggressive exfoliation (scrubs, strong acids, retinoids) unless I tell you otherwise.
Makeup timing
Light makeup is often fine after 24 to 48 hours if your skin feels calm. If you’re still warm, swollen, or irritated, give it more time. Heavy coverage and aggressive brush blending can be more friction than your skin wants early on.
If something feels off, reach out fast (and yes, we do follow-ups)
I take aftercare seriously because it protects your skin. A long-time patient once wrote about how our team caught a medication issue before a treatment and rescheduled to avoid a bad reaction. That’s exactly how we operate. I’d rather pause, adjust, and keep you safe than push forward.
Usually normal
- Mild redness or warmth
- A little swelling or tenderness
- Skin that feels tight or dry for a few days
Reach out right away
- Increasing pain instead of improving
- Fever
- Spreading redness or hot, worsening swelling
- Hard lumps or sudden asymmetry
"Clear, understandable guidance is always given when asking what is the best treatments for my skin."
one of our long-time clients
I’m in South Bloomington, and I also see clients coming in from Richfield, Minneapolis, Edina, Eagan, and Burnsville for follow-ups. If you’re unsure about a symptom or you just want me to look at something, let us know. If you’re still deciding, start with what to expect at your first triLift visit, then read triLift vs. PDO thread lift if you’re comparing options.
Need a quick check-in?
Call or email and tell me what day you’re on post-triLift and what you’re noticing. I’ll tell you what’s normal, what to adjust, and if I want to see you in clinic.
